you can't do that or anything else but just type text in a free account. they took that away a long time ago. click on upgrade options to get a paid account

on the toolbar above where you will write your message there are some icons, spell check, and whatnot...if you go to the 6th icon it shows 2 different size A's one with an arrow under it...that is where you resize your text...highlight your text and pick a size..they only have 6 sizes..
You could try writing your mails in word or notepad and then copy and pasting them in so you can read while you write.
