How do you change the standard font on Microsoft Word?

Ok so I think I have Microsoft Word 2000 or 2001. When I start typing, the font I get is always Times New Roman. I can still change it to the font I like, but how do you make it so the font you want is the font that you type with first thing? (If that is possible). Tell me if you need any clarifications.

If your document already contains text formatted with the properties you want to use, select that text.

On the Format menu, click Font.

Select the options you want to apply to the default font. If you selected text in step 1, the properties you want will appear in the dialog box.

Click Default.

Any new document you open will use the font settings you selected.

Simple:

1. Right-click in an empty document and select Font.

2. Select the font you want.

3. Make any changes you want.

4. Click the Default checkbox.

5. Select Yes in the warning box that appears.

6. Click OK.

That should do it.

Go to format on menu bar and chose font. Select font you want to use as default and click on default button on bottom left of window. The next time you open word you will start typing with the default font you chose. Thanks I just learned something too.
