Why can't I type anything in Word?

when i open up a word document it won't let me type anything onto the page and some of the other options - such as changing the font type, size and colour - are not available. it also says towards the bottom of the screen (when i try to type) that this modification is not allowed because the document is locked. how can i unlock it?

also, none of the other microsoft office programs - powerpoint, excel etc - will let me type anything into them either

this problem has happened quite suddenly... any help is greatly appreciatedWhy can't I type anything in Word?
You will find the document within word has been minimised.

You can open . throught the menubar option - '; Window';

1) Arrange all - or

2) and select the document - Usually document 1. This will re-maximise the window.Why can't I type anything in Word?
Is it possible that your MS Office suite was a trial offer version and it has now expired?

I suggest downloading and installing OpenOffice...its free and very good. It is also compatible with MS Office and other formats. http://www.openoffice.org
You need to pay for the service after a while of free use.Good Luck..
